While most people define live videos as online interactions that happen right at the moment, immediately, this video questions the sense of immediacy or liveness, of real-timeness, sold in technology propaganda to live-streamers and internet users. By discussing why live streaming succeeds or fails, the video concludes that live streaming is not really a matter of “live,” in-the-moment immediacy, but rather is inevitably tied to an earlier time when the live stream was announced.  This process of planning encourages viewers to participate, and it is only when eyes are watching that LIVE comes to life and becomes immediate. On the other hand, when a live stream is not planned in advance, it often means that “live” becomes a matter of continually waiting, a constant deferral of the live event.
