Director: Rob Marshall
Writers: P.L. Travers (based upon the “Mary Poppins” stories by) (as PL Travers), David Magee (screen story by)
Stars: Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw

In the sequel Mary Poppin Returns (Rob Marshall, 2018), where young Georgie (Joel Dawson) is flying a kite, and the winds have picked up, Georgie is about to lose his kite, and Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) helps him reel it in, but on the other end of the kite it is Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt), floating down with it in her hand. The magical power of Mary Poppins is like something out of fairy tales and defies realism. She defies the static normalcy of everyday life that grounds people in systems constructed for children to become “working” adults and detach them from their past ideas and imagination, the stuff of folklore, fantasy, and make believe.
