The flight montage is a mix of CGI and game-like engineering. It bends the reality of what is shown in the frame and distorts the laws of physics. Based on simulation theory, the ‘Matrix,’ becomes a place where the rules are bendable. Look at the angles, perspectives, of the shots used to create flight. They reflect speed, acceleration, and being able to defy gravity. In some of the scenes we see slow motion being used to simulate the exhilaration that a pilot or race car driver feels traveling at a high rate of speed. That tunnel vision effect.
